Danelle Hughes Norman grew up making mud pies in the back yard of Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. Her sense of adventure took her to Oregon where she first began sculpting clay as an apprentice for Caroline Osborne Sommer. She moved to Colorado in 1999, eventually earning a BFA in Art Education from Colorado Mesa University. Her passion for art is matched with a love for teaching.
Danelle enjoys throwing vessels as much as creating conceptual art pieces and tree faces. You can see many of her faces on the trees in the Enchanted Forest at Telluride Ski Resort.
Danelle's love for the outdoors and art informs all of her endeavors. She is grateful to live, learn, grow, and create in Southwest Colorado.
"There are so many things I love about clay: working with the elements of earth, water, and fire to transform a moment into stone, so that a glimpse of the process gets frozen in time."
